"We had such a wonderful experience. We saw deer, otters, humpback whales - we were in a pod of 72 orcas as they passed by. The weather was beautiful - the water like glass."
Jeanne Gasiorek, Florida

Mothership Sea Kayaking

If you’re not in a camping frame of mind but still want to explore the coast in as natural a way as possible, a Mothership kayaking tour is one of your best options. Boats and the coast go hand in hand and you can be part of a centuries-old tradition of traveling from one safe harbor to the next while enjoying the wild freedom of the coast all the way between, by a combination of charter vessel and kayak.

We operated our own Mothership, the Spirit Bear, from 1999 through 2006. We have made a decision to move on and evolve our Mothership offerings so that you will have a bigger choice of types and sizes of vessels on which to travel. Now, you have a choice of classic, beautifully restored, heritage vessels. You can choose a private charter aboard an intimate coastal cruiser of 46 feet, carrying four passengers. Or you can reserve your individual space on a larger vessel of 70 feet that carries up to ten guests.

Each has a dedicated and professional crew who know the coast intimately, have years of wildlife encounters under their belts, chefs who turn out spectacular meals, and of course sea kayaks to help you get away and experience the most peaceful mode of water travel imaginable.

These vessels are perfect platforms for watching whales, sea lions, and sea birds. Porpoises love riding along under the bows as you travel to a new anchorage. And the vessels carry small boats to take you on side trips.

The range of the trips is nearly the entire coast of British Columbia. From Victoria/Vancouver, there are opportunities to explore island villages and tour local farms, wineries and artist studios, plus kayaking, hiking, biking, and watching wildlife. Or you can choose a voyage to the waters of the orca around northern Vancouver Island or as far afield as the islands of the northern coast, the Great Bear Rainforest and the home of the white Spirit bears.

Most voyages are six to seven days. Each day, we have the option of moving many miles to an entirely new destination, from open waters to the island coves. Whatever the weather, the vessels provide a comfortable haven to pass the days.

Please contact us discuss your needs so we can help you choose the best vessel for your vacation and help to get your voyage started.
