Kayakers with an Orca

Welcome Back

Some people just keep coming back! Among the many returnees are Julie, back for her seventh season since 1997 and this time for both an Inside Passage and a Wild Orca Adventure. Marla is bringing her family back for their fourth trip since 2000 and Ken is joining us on his fourth Inside Passage trip since 2002. We also have a handful of guests who traveled with us years ago who are now returning for another trip and bringing their kids this time. Thanks for your passion for what we do and welcome back!

Baja Mothership Voyage a Success

Our senior guides Luke Gutowski and Samanta Chu finished up our 25th Anniversary Mothership Voyage in the Sea of Cortez in late April along with a great group of guests. Read their full report here (and don't forget to check back as we'll be adding weekly Reports From the Field beginning in June).

The night paddle

The Night Paddle

If you read through some of our Rave Reviews, you’re likely to come upon mention of our famous “night paddles.” How can such a highlight of our trips be so hard to imagine? A night paddle is certainly one of those “you had to be there” experiences that can’t be adequately described in words. But we’ll give it a shot to hopefully give you some sense of why the night paddle is the highlight of so many of our travelers’ adventures.

We wait until it’s almost completely dark to push off from shore. Staying close to camp, and to shore, we glide along and, looking down, notice the sea of tiny, sparkling lights. Millions of specks of light, swirling under the kayaks and pouring off each paddle stroke give the feeling of floating through space, with stars above and below. In the quiet of the evening, we are often able to hear distant blows of whales or even nearby blows of seals or porpoises. But most of all, the simple mystery of all those tiny, luminescent creatures that can only be seen at night is what makes these times so magical.

First Trip of the Season Discount

While most of our trips are filling fast (in fact the Wild Orca trips are almost full for the season) we do still have a few spaces left on our first trip of the season. So, we are offering a discount of $150 per person on our June 24th Wildlife Discovery trip. You may also want to check our discounts page (at the bottom of the dates & prices page) periodically as we'll add other discounted dates if we have them.
