Your
Safety Comes First
We
are very happy to have a superb safety record. Each trip has a 24-hour
a day safety net; emergency logistics are always in the background
if they are ever needed. Our expedition-quality equipment is travel-tested
and maintained to high standards. All of our guides are certified
in Wilderness First Aid, a nationally recognized classification
signifying specialized training for wilderness trip leaders. Our
guides provide all the instruction you'll need for a safe, enjoyable
experience.
Northern
Lights Expeditions' in-house guide training is the most thorough
in the sea kayak tour business. Each guide carries a premium quality
two-way marine radio to summon help if it is ever needed, and each
trip has a thorough back-up plan to cover our guests in the rare
case that help is needed.
As
for wildlife: Orcas have never bumped a kayak. Wolves are extremely
shy and do not attack people. With the normal precautions we take
when in country where cougars or bears live, any chance of an encounter
is at a minimum. We have tremendous appreciation for having the
privilege of temporarily sharing an environment with any of these
magnificent wild creatures. We are blessed with the opportunity
to learn about their lives and to be a part of the wilderness they
live in and the wildness they symbolize.
While our guides
are passionate about giving you the best sea kayaking trip possible,
they know your safety is always their first priority.
