Northern Lights Expeditions is a sea kayak tour outfitter operating in the Johnstone Strait, Robson Bight, and Inside Passage areas of the Vancouver Island, British Columbia coast since 1983. We all want our sea kayaking adventures to be safe, comfortable, educational, and fun. That's why our sea kayaking tours are operated with expedition quality kayaking and camping equipment and the best sea kayak guides in the business. We don't operate sea kayak tours in areas like Baja or the Queen Charlotte Islands. These areas contain large expanses of open water, unsheltered from the sudden, prolonged winds that can occur, along with accompanying rough water. These areas are also more isolated from dependable weather information and rescue efforts. Our trip offerings are in the Inside Passage region of western Canada, which features great summer weather, incredible wildlife encounters and calm-water sea kayaking in sheltered waters, along with excellent Coast Guard support and dependable weather forecasts and information. We have run 3 to 7-day, introductory sea kayaking adventures for 25 years, since 1983. We run sea kayaking Mothership trips and grizzly bear watching in the Great Bear Rainforest. We also feature whale watching for orcas - killer whales -, humpback whales and minke whales. We commonly encounter whales, eagles, dolphins, sea lions, seals, and porpoises. The Inside Passage is sometimes mistakenly called the Inward Passage or Inner Passage. Our web site address is www.seakayaking.com.
